DIMÀRIA PROJECT, A NEW SYSTEM FOR THE PREVENTIVE DIAGNOSIS OF RESPIRATORY DISEASES

Project title: System for the Preventive DIagnosis of MAlimentary Respiratory Illnesses through Auscultation analysis, comprising auscultation detection tools and monitoring platforms powered by Artificial Intelligence. Acronym: DIMÀRIA

Start date: October 2025

Area: E-Health

The primary objective of the project is to develop an integrated system for the early diagnosis of respiratory diseases. The system consists of:
(i) An hardware device capable of digitalising and recording natural sounds captured via a traditional stethoscope; (ii) An “intelligent” alert platform built on microservices architecture, accessible via web and mobile applications; (iii) A deep learning model trained on vast datasets to predict anomalies and respiratory pathologies.

The project further aims to:
(i) Raise awareness regarding the importance of early diagnosis as a preventive measure for respiratory system disorders; (ii) Improve the understanding of the correlations between auscultatory sounds and respiratory pathologies; (iii) Support accurate anamnesis (medical case histories) for respiratory conditions; (iv) Enhance doctor-patient interaction through the shared access to auscultation data and predictive system outputs; (v) Facilitate the integration of clinical data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR/CCE) systems.
